Celtic Link Ferries Overview
Celtic Link Ferries were established in 2005 and operate car ferry and freight services between Rosslare in the Republic of Ireland and Cherbourg in the north of France, and between Portsmouth on the English south coast and Cherbourg. The ferries on these routes are the Diplomat, which Celtic Link bought from P&O Ferries, and the Norman Voyager. These are extremely popular holiday routes connecting the Republic Ireland and England with France.
Routes
Celtic Link's new route provides daily services between Portsmouth and Chebourg. The route is served by the Norman Voyager on Mondays to Thursdays which takes 5½ hours to make the journey, and the Diplomat Friday to Sunday, which takes 6 hours.
You can also book a Celtic Link ferry between Rosslare and Cherbourg with AFerry.com. The vehicle-only crossing takes either 17 hours on weekend crossings or 20 hours during the week. The service runs 3 times a week in each direction.
Onboard Facilities
The Diplomat is primarily a freight ferry, but Celtic Link also carry other vehicles, including cars, trailers and motorcycles, as well as passengers on the cross-channel journey. All the of two, three, four or five bedroom cabins on board are spacious, above sea level, and include en-suite bathroom facilities. Onboard you will also find a fully-licensed bar, shop and widescreen televisions. The Diplomat makes the Rosslare to Cherbourg journey in 20 hours, and the cross-Channel rossing in 6½ hours.
The Norman Voyager has 110 spacious and highly comfortable cabins, Le Bistro du Norman self-service restaurant, the Shamrock pub, a cinema, wi-fi access, a shop and some excellent lounges. It's journey time on the Cherbourg to Rosslare route is 17 hours, and 5½ hours on the Portsmouth to Cherbourg service. |
