Scandinavia Overview
Scandinavia is region in Northern Europe, and is made up of the five Scandinavian countries; Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. Scandinavia also includes the Faroe Islands which are administered by Denmark, Svalbard which is administered by Norway and Aland which is part of Finland.
Norway is famous for its deep fjords and beautifully rugged mountainous terrain. When arriving by ferry travellers can choose to enter via Oslo (the nation's capital), Stavanger or Larvik, and then travel on to one of the many other towns and cities. Towards the centre of Scandinavia visitors will find Sweden, the largest of the Scandinavian countries. Arriving via ferry to Sweden travellers can choose to enter the country via one of many port towns and cities, such as Gothenburg on the western coast, Ystad on the southern coast or the capital city of Stockholm on the eastern coast.
