HD Ferries Overview
HD Ferries operated the high-speed catamaran service between the Channel Islands (Jersey and Guernsey) and St. Malo in northern France.
In September 2008 HD Ferries announced it was stopping its summer 2008 service early due to high fuel prices and the economic slowdown. In February 2009 HD Ferries announced it would not be resuming services in 2009, therefore HD Ferries are not available to book with AFerry.com.
HD Ferries offered an affordable, high speed and reliable service for passengers and freight. The service began on the 15th March 2007 with a daily summer timetable from Jersey to St. Malo (a daily service from Guernsey to St. Malo was later added) and inter-island connections.
Routes
HD Lines provided a ferry service between the Channel Island ports of Jersey and Guernsey and the French port of St. Malo.
For alternative services please see the Condor Ferries page, where you can find routes between the Channel Islands, St. Malo and also the UK ports of Weymouth, Poole and Portsmouth, and also the Compagnie Corsaire page, who operate ferries between St Malo and Jersey, all available to book with AFerry.com.
Onboard Facilities
The HD1 Ferry was built in 1998 which made it the newest ferry service in the Channel Islands and has a top speed of 47 knots which also made it the fastest service available. The HD1 high speed catamaran ferry service provided the fastest crossing time between the ports of Jersey and St. Malo, in just 1 hour.
HD1 can support 100 cars, or 70 cars and 10 freight vehicles and up to 400 passengers in a spacious and comfortable environment. The onboard services consisted of duty free shop with a wide range of available goods, many comfortable lounges, free onboard magazine, and a fully licensed bar and café. |
