Holyhead Ferries Overview

With AFerry.com you'll find it easy to view timetables, find the cheapest crossings, and securely book a ferry between Holyhead (Wales, UK) and Dublin and Dunlaoghaire (both in the Republic of Ireland) operated by Irish Ferries and Stena Line.

About Holyhead

Holyhead is located in the western area of the Isle of Anglesey in Northern Wales. Holyhead is the largest town in the county of Anglesey, but is neither the capital town of the county nor is it actually situated on the Isle of Anglesey itself. It is actually found on Holy Island, which is connected to the Isle of Anglesey and the rest of Wales by the Four Mile Bridge, named as such as it is four miles from Holyhead on the old post road from London.

Holyhead, although a busy local port, has a number of public attractions and shopping centres to keep you there, such as St. Cybi's Church, which was built inside one of the only three walled Roman forts in Europe. There is also a series of prehistoric sites to explore and a Roman watchtower.

The town makes for an excellent base for exploring north Wales with its beautiful sandy beaches and gorgeous scenery. The local area also features several excellent fishing locations for those wanting to enjoy the great Welsh outdoors and some excellent golf courses as well.

Getting There

By Car

The Port is situated near to Holyhead Town Centre, and is reached by following the A5 from the Midlands, or by the A55 from Chester. Once you reach the Town Centre, follow the signs to the Ferries.

By Rail

Holyhead is on the main rail line with connections and services from most parts of the UK (4 hours from London; 2 1/2 hours from Manchester).

By Bus There are frequent buses and coaches to Anglesey and Holyhead from England and Wales. On Anglesey there is a local network of buses which service all parts of the island.
