Iscomar Overview
Iscomar (Isleña Marítima de Contenedores) is a Spanish operator who specializes in the transportation of passengers, wheeled cargo and vehicles between mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands (Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera) and also inter-Balearic Island routes.
Founded in 1979, Iscomar ferries concentrated on transporting goods and vehicles until 1998 when Iscomar ferries began to offer passenger specific ferries with an initial inter-island route between Alcudia (Mallorca) and Ciutadella (Menorca). Due to the success of this passenger route, Iscomar rapidly increased its passenger services to include Barcelona to Palma de Mallorca and Denia to Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca routes. Further routes from Valencia and Barcelona and between the islands of Ibiza and Formentera followed in 2004 and 2005.
Iscomar has continued to offer a variety of routes between the Balearic Islands including fast ferries and aims to extend the service for passengers between the mainland and the Balearic Islands. The head office of Iscomar Ferries is located at Palma de Mallorca.
