About Southampton

Situated on the southern coast of England, Southampton has one of England's busiest and most successful deep-water ports. The natural deep-water harbour and unique double tide allow unrestricted access for the world's largest vessels.

Southampton is the closest city to New Forest and offers the New Forest Nature Quest for visitors and locals to participate in. The city also has several museums to visit such as the Southampton Maritime Museums and the Solent Sky museum of aviation.

Southampton Terminal Facilities

Southampton Ferry port facilities include a cash machine, heated waiting area, trolleys, payphones, toilets, vending machines and a small shop. Parking is also available at Triangle Car Park.

Getting There

By Car

From the north follow the M3 until you reach the city outskirts then follow the signs and directions for port terminal. You will find Red Funnel'`s Terminal 1 on the right as you enter the port, signposted Red Funnel Dock Gate 7.

From the east follow the A27 until it joins the M27 then follow this road until the outskirts of the city then follow the signs and directions for the port terminal.

From the west follow the A31 until it joins the M27 then follow this road until the outskirts of the city then follow the signs and directions for the port terminal.

By Rail

Southampton Central is served by rail services from all parts of the UK, from where the free CityLink shuttle bus will drop you outside Red Funnel terminal. From London; South West Trains operate frequent services between Waterloo (via Clapham Junction, Woking, Basingstoke, Winchester, Southampton Airport) and Southampton Central taking a little over an hour.

By Bus

National Express operates an extensive UK coach service from Southampton Coach Station (near the rail station). There are regular coach services to Heathrow, Central London, Brighton, Bournemouth, Exeter, Plymouth, Penzance, Salisbury, Bath, Bristol, Oxford, Birmingham, and Stoke on Trent, Liverpool, Sheffield and the North. From the nearby rail station the free CityLink shuttle bus can take you to the ferry terminal.
