About Southsea
Southsea, located at the southern end of Portsea Island, is the small seaside resort of Portsmouth, and is only less than a mile from the Portsmouth city centre. Southsea is a typical seaside town with a beach and two piers; the South Parade Pier and the Clarence pier. Both piers have typical British fair amusements such as large arcades and there is also a funfair permanently adjacent to the Clarence pier. Southsea combines this traditional look with a thriving commercial area and a lively social scene.
Southsea, acting as Portsmouth's seaside resort offers four miles of promenades and attractions, with some fantastic views across the seafront and the Solent. Attractions in the town include the excellent shops and restaurants along the seafront, Southsea Castle, the Blue Reef Aquarium, the D-Day and Royal Marine museums and the Southsea Model village. In addition to the above, a number of open air concerts and events are held throughout summer in Southsea.
