About Stockholm
Located on the western coast of Sweden in the Stockholm Archipelago, the port of Stockholm is a pivotal business hub for the majority of the Baltic Sea region. The port is situated within walking distance from the city centre, which offers a wide selection of shopping and dining options for all visitors, and tourists.
Stockholm is the biggest city in Sweden and is the country's capital. Stockholm has one of the largest shopping districts in Scandinavia, and offers many wide and varied shopping experiences to visitors and locals alike. The city is also renowned for its architecture, and has many beautiful buildings in and around the city centre area, that offer beautiful photo opportunities. Stockholm attracts over 1 million tourists to Sweden a year, with the offer of varied music events, cultural sites and the city's wide selection of restaurants offering local speciality foods as well as traditional Swedish cooking.
Stockholm Terminal Facilities
The Stockholm ferry port provides immigration facilities for ferry passengers and Stockholm information service kiosks that provide help with hotel bookings.
All ferry companies and ferry port terminals provide facilities for those with disabilities, with special cabins available on board some vessels. However, passengers are recommended to inform their ferry company of any special needs prior to travelling.
Car parks are provided at the port for both short and long-term stays, with specially designated areas available for those with disabilities.
Getting There
Stockholm is very well integrated into the European rail and road networks, providing efficient links to the European continent. Ferries are the main link between the country and continental Europe.
By Car
The European motorway E18 leads to Oslo and motorways E20 and E6 connect with Oslo via Gothenburg. The European motorway E4 runs as far as Malmö.
By Rail
Swedish State Railways is the efficient and rapid national rail carrier. Stockholm offers national and international rail links to Sweden and the rest of Europe via the X2000 express. Trains also run as far as Oslo and other destinations in Norway (twice daily).
By Bus
The Cityterminalen, Klarabergviadukten 72, next to Central Station, is the terminus for international bus links, with Eurolines providing connections to major European centres. Locally, the metro network provides a fast and convenient way of travelling around the city of Stockholm. |
