Smyril Line is Faroese shipping company, providing ferry crossings between the Faroe Islands, Denmark and Iceland.

Smyril Line was established in 1982 by Mr Oli Hammer together with Jógvan í Dávastou and Andrias Joensen with the aim of operating a passenger and vehicle ferry service on the North Atlantic linking the Faroe Islands, Scotland/Shetland, Norway and Denmark.

Onboard Facilities

In April 2003 Smyril Line launched their latest ferry, named Norröna, with a capacity for 1,482 passengers and 800 cars and a service speed of 21 knots was launched. It is both a passenger and cargo ship and was built in was built in Lübeck, Germany.

The passenger part is of a cruise ship standard, so that your holiday begins in style. All cabins are equipped with sofabeds, TV, en suite bath and toilet, wardrobes, writing desk and dressing table, trouser press and fridge.

With Smyril Line passengers have many possibilities to pass the time on board. The ferry Norröna has a swimming pool and fitness centre with sunbeds and sauna, a large and good playroom for the children, and a large selection of leading brand names and local goods in the shops.

In the cafeteria onboard you can choose from a wide selection of light meals or enjoy an evening full of North Atlantic specialities at the delicious buffet restaurant. For gourmet delicacies you can visit the 'a la carte' restaurant and enjoy an evening of fine food and delicious wines. In the Viking Club try one of the cocktails from the vast menu and dance to live music all night long. For a more laid-back experience you can visit the Naust Lounge bar and relax in the comfortable sofas.
