About Zeebrugge
Zeebrugge is Belgium's largest and busiest ferry port, welcoming approximately 800,000 passengers and 10,000 ships yearly. Zeebrugge not only welcomes ferries, but has also grown into Flanders' most important cruise port because of its central location and excellent accessibility.
The most popular destination inland from Zeebrugge is historical Bruges, famous for its medieval architecture, canals and chocolate. It is only 2 hours drive from Zeebrugge to Brussels, the capital of Belgium.
Zeebrugge itself is a seaside resort, with many hotels and cafés and it has a long history which stretches back to the beginning of the Christian calendar. There were periods of affluence but also of decline. In the past 25 years cargo throughput in the Zeebugge port has risen spectacularly. With approximately 10,000 ships every year and a cargo volume exceeding 32 million tons, Zeebrugge is one of Europe's fastest growing ports.
