The city of Bergen was founded in 1070 by King Olaf III and was originally called Bjorgvin; now Bergen is home to approximately 225000 inhabitants. The Troldhaugen, the Edvard Grieg museum, was the home of Nina and Edvard Grieg. This attractive Swiss-style house was built in 1884-85, with a spectacular view of the Lake Nordaas.
Places to see while in Hirtshals include the Nordsoen Oceanarium, one of the largest aquariums in Europe with a collection of 70 different species, and the 35 meter high Hirtshals fyr Lighthouse, built in 1860.
