CORSICA linea has taken delivery of its second liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered vessel, the Capu Rossu, marking an important step in the company’s fleet development and environmental strategy.
The official delivery took place on 26 March 2026 at the CMJL Jinling shipyard in China, in partnership with Stena RoRo.
A new generation vessel for Corsica routes
The Capu Rossu is part of the E-Flexer series, a platform designed by Stena RoRo and adapted to meet the specific needs of ferry operators. Built for operations in the Mediterranean, the vessel is expected to begin service between Marseille and Corsica from June 2026, supporting ferry crossings to Corsica.
Supporting fleet renewal and performance
The arrival of the Capu Rossu continues the company’s fleet renewal programme, following the introduction of A Galeotta in 2023. The new vessel is designed to offer comfortable and efficient ferry crossings, with strong capacity for both passengers and freight.
Key onboard features include:
- Capacity for up to 1,000 passengers
- 235 cabins
- Multiple dining areas, including a restaurant, snack bar, and bar
- Garage space for trailers and cars
A step forward in environmental strategy
Powered by LNG, the Capu Rossu plays a key role in CORSICA linea’s goal to reduce CO₂ emissions by 40% by 2030. It also supports the development of a lower-carbon maritime corridor between Corsica and mainland France.
Pierre-Antoine Villanova, CEO of CORSICA linea, described the delivery as a significant moment for the company, highlighting both the strength of its industrial partnerships and its continued commitment to operating in the Mediterranean.
What this means for travellers
For passengers travelling between mainland France and Corsica, the introduction of the Capu Rossu means access to a more modern vessel designed with both comfort and environmental performance in mind.
With ferry crossings connecting Marseille and Corsica, travellers can continue to plan their journey with flexibility, now with the added benefit of a newer ship designed to improve onboard comfort and efficiency.
As ferry operators continue to invest in newer technologies, travellers can expect a gradual shift towards more efficient and lower-emission ferry crossings across key Mediterranean routes.
