Ferries to and from Mytilene
Hellenic Seaways is one the largest and most well known of the Greek ferry companies. As well as conventional ferries, the company also operates catamaran type vessels and fast ferries which can sometimes be up to 50% faster than other companies with conventional ferries. This means that you can island-hop and have even more time to enjoy your destination. Their ferries are modern and offer a full range of facilities on board.
Whatever route you take to or from Mytilene, you are certain to have a wonderful journey with this famous Greek ferry company.
Mytiline is the capital of the island and one of the most popular destinations for visitors to Lesvos (also spelled Lesbos). What may be a bit confusing is that locals may refer to the whole island as Mytiline. Unlike some other Greek islands, Mytiline has kept some of its traditional architecture: Gateluzzi castle, the church of Agios Therapon with its impressive dome, and, at the edge of the port, the Statue of Liberty are emblems of this historic town and port.
Mytiline is a busy and lively town and not just for tourists. There are many cafes, bars and restuarants to choose from throughouth the whole year. For the perfect ouzo and mezzadakia (small nibbles with your drink) head over to Sappho Square. Or if you want to see and bee seen while you sip on your frappe (a traditional cold greek coffee) head over to the area around the new southern port where you'll find trendy bars, cafes and shops.
