Penzance Port

Penzance is the hometown of one of the fathers of electrochemistry, Humphry Davy. It is the largest of the villages in the far west of Cornwall, where you'll find over 30 pubs and many restaurants serving from traditional fish and chips to Italian, Thai, Chinese or Indian foods. Once you've sated your appetite, you have shops, a cinema and two night clubs at your disposal.

Penzance port facilities

Penzance's port is composed of an inner dry dock and a dock, accessible through a door that opens only for three hours each high tide, since the level of the water around is usually quite low. The facilities at the port are basic, but you have a shopping centre and restaurants right outside the harbour. From Easter to November the "Scillonian III" passenger ferry sets sail every day from Penzance to the island of St. Mary's, located in the Atlantic Ocean at 28 miles from Land's End. The crossing takes approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.
