SNAV Ferries

SNAV (Società Navigazione Alta Velocità) was founded in 1958 by Carlo Rodriquez. The company was initially established to serve domestic routes, SNAV expanded its operations to international destinations, connecting Italy to Croatia, Greece, and Albania, as well as routes within the Mediterranean. The first commercial service was established between Sicily and the Italian mainland operating on the Strait of Messina, but was quickly extended to other routes.

Renowned for its high-speed ferries and catamarans, SNAV became a leader in fast maritime transportation. Over the decades, it modernised its fleet to enhance efficiency and comfort, contributing to its reputation as a key player in Mediterranean travel and tourism.

SNAV Ferries has been making efforts to enhance sustainability in its operations, focusing on reducing its environmental footprint. SNAV is exploring the use of cleaner fuels such as Ultra-Low Sulfur Fuel Oil and biofuels. These alternatives significantly reduce harmful emissions compared to traditional marine fuels.

SNAV also implement propulsion systems and engines to improve energy efficiency. Innovations like advanced hull coatings and efficient engine designs contribute to reduced fuel consumption. They also carry out sustainable practices such as improved water and solid waste management. Techniques such as biological treatment of sewage, filters, and recycling onboard aim to minimise pollution.
