About Valverde
El Hierro has a varied landscape with tall hills and deep valleys, peaking at over 500 metres above sea-level. The altitude can make a significant different to the climate, which is generally tropical.
On the north coast the waters are calm enough for swimming, and there is a black sand beach set in a cove. Valverde is a fantastic place for hiking, as the tops of the hills offer spectacular views of the coastline and the town below.
