Ferries to and from Capraia
Toremar Ferries was formed in 1976. Today, it is a very busy operator. In 2009, it carried nearly 2 million passengers onboard its fleet of eight modern and comfortable ships. Onboard you will find air conditioning and escalators and most ferries also provide bars and a shopping arcade. For parents travelling with young children playgrounds are a useful addition to the onboard facilities.
Capraia is of volcanic origin, has an area of 19 km² and the highest point on the island is 466 m above sea level. Capraia is about 8 km long and about 4 km wide. It has a coastline that is about 30 km in circumference. The island is part of the Arcipelago Toscano National Park and marine sanctuary.
Capraia produces wine, and is a centre of the anchovy fishing industry. About 40 km to the north is the island of Gorgona, which is also famous for its anchovies.
Capraia is the third largest island in the Tuscan Archipelago, after Elba and Giglio. It is a muncipality belonging to the Province of Livorno. Ferries from Capraia can be booked with AFerry using the booking form on the left.
