Interislander, operated by KiwiRail, is committed to sustainability through several key initiatives. The company has secured the purchase of two new ferries, marking the first shipping loan globally to receive certification from the Climate Bonds Initiative. These state-of-the-art vessels are designed to reduce carbon emissions by 40% through a combination of diesel, battery, and shore power, with 30% of each crossing powered by batteries and shore power from the outset.
