CTN History

The Tunisian Navigation Company (CTN or Cotunav) was founded in the late 1950s to establish a national fleet of ships to support Tunisia's economic development. The company initially focused on regular routes with its main trading partners before diversifying its activities.

In June 1999, CTN launched its flagship vessel, the C/F Carthage, a modern car ferry designed to enhance passenger comfort and improve service standards. This introduction marked a milestone in the company’s commitment to providing high-quality travel experiences, especially during the peak summer season when many Tunisians and tourists travel across the Mediterranean.

Despite challenges in the competitive ferry industry, CTN has maintained its reputation as a reliable and customer-focused operator. Today, the company remains a vital link between Tunisia and Europe, facilitating trade, tourism, and cultural exchange through its well-established routes and high-quality service.

CTN Sustainability

In 2023, the CTN experimented with increasing the ferry crossing time between Europe and Tunisia by 3.5 hours to reduce its fleet's fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

The CTN invested in a dockside electrical connection system for its two-car ferries to reduce its environmental impact in equipped ports (reducing particle emissions and noise pollution).

Hello, we experienced a one-day…

Hello, we experienced a one-day delay with no apology, spending two and a half days on the boat without any compensation whatsoever, not even a coffee. The Italian ferry company only received a message two days prior informing them of the cancellation, but nothing at all. I expect some kind of gesture from you.
