SeaLink commenced operations in 1989, providing ferry services between mainland South Australia and Kangaroo Island. Over the years, the company expanded its services across Australia, becoming the nation's largest marine transport and tourism operator. In 2021, to reflect its diversified operations, SeaLink Travel Group rebranded under Kelsian Group Limited, however, it still operates as SeaLink.

SeaLink is deeply committed to environmental sustainability across its operations. As part of the Kelsian Group, a leader in sustainable public transport, SeaLink is actively involved in developing low and green-emission vessels, including hydrogen and electric-powered ferries, to promote eco-friendly marine transport solutions.

The company has achieved various independent certifications, such as Advanced Ecotourism Certification and Green Travel Leader status from Ecotourism Australia, recognising its dedication to environmental, cultural, and community programs. SeaLink's sustainability initiatives include implementing energy-efficient practices, reducing waste through recycling and the use of non-disposable items. Notably, SeaLink is investing in a world-first internationally compliant hydrogen-powered passenger ferry, demonstrating its commitment to pioneering sustainable transport solutions.
