Foot passengers are required to check in at the foot passenger terminal situated at the ferry berth on the new pier. Passengers arriving at the old pier should allow appropriate time to make their way to the foot passenger check-in terminal on the new pier (some 800m distance). The X99 bus service, operated by Stagecoach Highlands, connects Inverness to Thurso and Scrabster. The journey from Inverness to Scrabster takes just under 4 hours, with some buses stopping directly at the ferry terminal, while others stop approximately 1.5 miles away in central Thurso. The Far North Railway Line connects Inverness to Thurso, with the train journey taking just under 4 hours. Thurso train station is about 2 miles from Scrabster, approximately a 6-minute drive. Both services offer essential links for travellers heading to the ferry terminal.
