Brodick is the main ferry port in Arran. There are two ports on Arran. The ferry to Brodick sails from Ardrossan, a port and town on the North Ayrshire coast in south-west Scotland. The ferry route is operated by Caledonian MacBrayne - commonly known as CalMac. There are up to 10 crossings per day and the crossing time is approximately 55 minutes minutes. The distance is about 13 miles (21 km).
The largest and busiest settlement on Arran, and main ferry port, is Brodick, lying in a wide bay backed by a range of steep crags. It's not the most attractive village on the island, and consists of little more than one long street that sweeps round the bay, but you'll find a wide range of tourist facilities and services here. Brodick also makes a convenient base from which to explore the island, particularly if you intend climbing Goatfell, Arran's highest mountain, or walking in Glen Rosa.
About Brodick
When on the island there are many different shops in which you can hire vehicles. The main types are bicycles hire shops as the island is not too big and it is easy to get around by bike. Most of these hire shops will be found on the Seafront.
When looking for Brodick Ferry Port it will be sign-posted as it is the main Ferry Port on the island.
