About Riga

Riga is the capital of Latvia and is the largest city in the Baltic. The city is located on both banks of the river Daugava, which seperates the city in to two sections; the Vecriga (Old Riga) and Pardaugava.

    • Enjoy an overnight Baltic crossing in style.

    Tired boat

    • We were first in the queue at check in. Our motorcycle was directed into a corner of the loading area with a large oil slick and broken wire pieces on the ground. I was worried about a puncture. We were then completely hemmed in by cars. We had to wait for 2 hours outside with no toilet facilities. Luckily the rain held off. A group of bikes came last and they were called on first to be tied down. We had to walk into the boat to show the loader we had a bike. Eventually he moved the cars to let us on. We had paid extra for a higher grade cabin but did not have the window we expected. The water did not drain from the sink. The staff at the information desk were quite shirty and wanted 55€ for an upgrade. All in all a shabby affair on Isabelle, the older of the two ferries that do the Riga - Stockholm route. Our Latvian friends recommend that you book on Romantika, the newer of the two boats, if you travel on this route. Overall recommended as the trip into Stockholm is fascinating - but not on this boat.

    • Well the journey was good ,but the cabine i got was have to say ,was in bad condition,start whit the wc shower ,long time not clean ,i had to clean ,very bad smell for the first moment you get in the room .i think for that price i got mutch better in other companys.the rest was standart . just need to check those cabines once in a wile showers. beds.

    Comfortable way to cross the Baltic

    • I was impressed with the trip. The cabin was comfortable, a decent size and offered a good view out to sea. The bathroom was small as you would expect but everything worked well and the shower was surprisingly good. The trip was comfortable and I enjoyed the entertainment. Bars were good, especially when 2 for 1 was on! We ate in Riga so didn't sample the catering but it offered a good choice and would have been happy to eat there. Overall a good trip and I would recommend it.

    Good experience

    • I had a good experience on the ferry. I went to the hot tub and sauna which was great and very relaxing, then I went for a drink at the bar on the top floor, the quality of the drink could have been better and the price was a bit excessive but considering the boat situation it was really good.
